Town Manager
Stevie Cox became Chadbourn’s Town Manager in June 2007. As the Town Manager, he is responsible for the administration of all departments of the Town of Chadbourn. This would include serving as the Town’s Planning and Zoning Director, Chief Budget Officer and Purchasing Agent.
The Town Manager is appointed by the Town Council and serves as the administrative head of Town government. The Town Manager is responsible for the operation of all Town departments and executes Board policy. In addition to the Manager's duties of providing leadership, direction and guidance to all the departments, he is also responsiblefor preparing the annual operating budget for the Town.
Mr. Cox is a native of Clinton, North Carolina. He is a 1984 graduate of Hobbton High School in Newton Grove, North Carolina. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wake Forest University in Communications (1988) and a Master of Arts degree from St. Louis University in Urban Affairs (1994).
Mr. Cox has been a purchasing agent for the National Institutes of Health in National Cancer Institute which he was responsible for overseeing a spending budget of $16 – 20 million per year. Mr. Cox has extensive municipal and county work experience. This includes his service as the Planning Coordinator in East St. Louis, IL; Neighborhood Planner for Monroe, NC; and Community Development Officer for Elizabeth City, NC. Prior to becoming Chadbourn’s Town Manager, Mr. Cox was the Planning Director for Columbus County.
Mr. Cox is very involved in the Town of Chadbourn and Columbus County. He serves as a Board Member for the Columbus County Partnership for Children and Columbus County Well Births Board. Furthermore, he is a member of the Chadbourn Lions Club, the North Carolina Strawberry Festival, North Carolina City County Management Association and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Chadbourn and actively participates in several other civic organizations.
